You must possess a regionally-accredited undergraduate degree in any field. If you do not have an accounting background, we will prepare you. Exceptional applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements will be considered on an individual basis. Contact the Admissions Office at 1.866.817.2226 Ext. 3551 for more information.
- Do I need to take the GRE, GMAT or other standardized tests?
No. Standardized tests are not required for entry into the Master of Science in Accounting program. Admission is based on your experience and professional accomplishments.
- Is New England College (NEC) accredited?
Yes. NEC is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges which is the highest and most widely-recognized form of accreditation for degree-granting programs. Visit www.neasc.org for more information.
- Is the online MSA degree any different from degrees earned on campus at New England College?
No. You will receive the same degree and your diploma is the same as students' on-campus diplomas.
- How long is the program?
The program is completed in less than two years. There are ten courses worth four credits each for a total of 40 credits.
- How many credits and courses do I take each semester?
There are six terms per year with one course offered per term. Each course is worth four credit hours.
- How much does the program cost?
The MSA program is competitively priced at $607 per credit hour for the core courses and $50 per prerequisite course. This is a great investment when you consider that the program will allow you to realize career-advancing opportunities while you continue working.
- How much time is required in this program?
This program is designed for the working professional who must keep up with the demands of work and home. Most students require 15-20 hours of study per week. Your instructor will help keep you on track. Students also find their small group to be a tremendous source of support.
- How will the MSA prepare me to enter a career in accounting?
The MSA program was developed based on the AICPA Core Competencies for entry into the accounting profession to ensure that each student will graduate with a complete understanding and appreciation of the various aspects of the accounting profession. Each of the competencies includes a specific skill set required for a successful career in accounting. These core competencies are categorized into three areas: functional, personal and broad business. Please see the Program Overview section for more details.
